I'm getting the itch to paint my motor. The plenum and injector housings are pretty cut and dry as far as removal and assembly goes, but how about the cam covers? I'd like to do the whole motor and would need to do the cam covers also. I've seen a few guys paint the cam covers with them still on the car but I don't want to do this. I'd like to remove them so I can sand them glass smooth. It looks like a simple removal by just removing the torx bolts. Are their any tricks?

Jay, it's kind of a involved process that I am currently undergoing. On the driver's side you have to remove the brake booster and master cylinder. On the passengers side you have to remve the the front half of the heater box. Charlie

If you're sanding, you'll be there for a while getting it glass smooth. Especially on the plenum. I'd personally look into powder coating them silver. It will be more durable and have a better gloss to it.
