I just pulled the cam that was in the engine when I bought the car and was wondering if anyone can ID it.

From front to back, there are 5 bearing surfaces. In front of the 4th bearing surface from the front there is "GM17". Behind that same bearing surface is the number "6930X". Behind the second bearing from the front is "D8". No other numbers anywhere on the cam.

Thanks.

i would guess it is a GM cam #3896929. GM casting #s differ from the part #

There is a horizontal diamond 180 degrees from the numbers 6930X. There is also another "17" 180 degrees from the GM17.

It's the GM "929" 300hp cam - casting number is 3896930. :)
i guess he did not believe me. :D

Thanks for the replies guys. Wanted to make sure that's what was in there so I can compare the seat-of-the-pants feel when I install the LT1 solid cam with the rest of the 365hp stuff.

Should be a fun combo.
