Can somebody explain to me?

The red square indicates a part from an automatic L98. The next pic is from a 4+3 manual where the part is missing. Can you tell me what this particular part is doing? I am still a newbie. Thanks

I think that is the cruise control. Notice the cable going to the throttle body. The 4+3 may not have cruise ?

K34 is cruise control and was an option from 1984 to 1987 in 1988 it was standard equipment.
