I really like Blue on a Vette, but i feel C6 Lemans Blue is a little too light. Some of the C5's seem to look darker. Is this a differently hued "LeMans Blue" or does it seem to darken with extra coats of Zaino or other product. Any pics???

C5s came in four different blue colors:
  • Nassau Blue Metallic
  • Navy Blue Metallic
  • Electron Blue Metallic
  • Lemans Blue Metallic

Hello, C6Patrick. Welcome to the :CAC

As an answer to your question, I am unaware of any aftermarket product that can darken the appearance of a factory applied color. Zaino (or any other polish or wax) will only affect the clear coat above the layer of paint.

I believe the only way to darken the appearance of the blue would be to have it repainted.

1. Do you have a C6 Lemans Blue Vette?
2. Didn't you see it before you bought it?
3. What Patrick said.......:L

No I do not have a Le Mans blue Vette, I would probably have looked at it before buying. I was curious if the "Deep Showroom Shine" that the polish/wax companys advertise would deepen the blue of the LeMans blue. I really like Blue but I am leaning more towards black as i like a darker finish.....

Patrick: I read a thread on another forum a couple of weeks ago. The author was complaining about NXT (at least in believe it was NXT) darking his green Vette to the point that it looked black. I have no personal expierence. Hope this helps.

i am using NXT on my precision red C-6 and it makes it brighter enought that my wife even noticed the differece between ours and other precision red we saw at the C-5/C-6 bash at the NCM

try the colored turtle wax. I swear it makes some cars paints look darker. I use it every once in a while on my vette its pretty heavy duty stuff!

I have a LeMans Blue Vette. I have used NXT on it - it does not darken the color but does add depth (that is, it brings out the dominant characteristics of the paint formulation) to it as well as reflectivity. Some would say this "darkens" the color. But as pointed out no wax will do that (unless its that scratch remover wax that has a tint - but even then I doubt it will actually change the color).

I just note that the actual shade of all of the Vette blues is affected by the base coat (silver, gold, other) as well as its basic characteristics (I believe that LB has a hue that favors purple while EB has more of a silver base).

Hi, Patrick. Until recently, I thought that reports of some wax darkening a car's paint color were urban myths. But my wife recently brought back from a recent European trip, a container of Swissol "Saphir" carnuba wax. Her nephew in Frankfurt claimed it was the world's best. Well, I have a '66 MGB that I re-painted Electron Blue a few years ago and I decided to try it out on that. Let me tell you, it works. The paint did actually look deeper and even a bit darker. ... best shine I ever put on a car. When I used it on my '98 C5 Torch Red convertible, the effect wasn't as dramatic, but it still was clearer and had sharper reflections. This is the best was I ever used but it is also the most expensive and available only through the mail. Also, key to a deep shine is getting the finish very clean before you start waxing. Good luck.

I used NXT on my dark blue metallic and did not like the results. It changed the color and gave it a strange green hue. I think it made it look lighter not darker. I stripped it off with Dawn dishwashing soap and use Gold Class and it was back to normal.

The NXT looked so bad I wrote Maguire's a complaint letter. I never heard from them about it. Which is weird because when I wrote them with a compliment they sent me a nice reply.
