Has anyone out there been able to overcome the automatic headlights on Canadian C5's? I am trying to help a friend with what we thought was a problem with his Twilight Sentinel system. What we found out was that his car was produced for sale in Canada, thus the headlights turn on and programming the sentinel does nothing. We were wondering if there is an easy fix such as a module or harness that could be changed. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks:confused

Hi there,
You would have to find a service center with a Tech 2, that can scan your BCM, to see what you have.
All c5 are equipped with daytime running lights, and will also turn on the headlights, based on available light.
With that in mind, a Tech 2 scan and reconfigure to see what you need to change, might be the first course of action here.

Automatic headlights based on available light ... is this an optional extra?

Hi there,
While twilight sentinel is an option, extra cost.
Daytime running lights, have been standard since the introduction in 97.
Earlier on c4, in Canada.

Tell him to be happy with the extra safety margin. ;)

The photo light sensor for the headlights can be bypassed with a resistor.
I did it with mine, but have forgotten what value of resistor I used.

I just had mine re-programmed at the local Chevy garage to disable the Twilight Sentinel.
