No shops carry the scanner I need for my 1990 so I guess I need to buy one. Which one should I buy. They range from $25-$300, so I'm assuming there's a difference.

If you have a laptop, check out this site. They sell the USB/OBD cable plus give you site to download diagnostic programs.

Thx... That is a big help. Your link put me right where I wanted. I have alot of learning to do so I can figure all this out. I finally found a shop with the right scanner and it found a bad ecm valve so I'm having it replaced now. I'd like to have my own progam so I can keep a close watch on everything to try to avoid these expensive repairs and keep everything running at it's peak. Thanks again...

I have the OBD I cable on that site, works well I downloaded some software from the place they listed . The software also works well.
