cant get codes

hey guys i need some help i am trying to clear the air bag inflator light told to jump k pin to seat ground turn on key and release ground and count 3 wont work i can not even get the codes to flash should be able to get code 12 but i cant get anything must be doing something wrong help 1990L98 what light is suppose to flash the codes

thanks rabbit for info i have tried the battery disconnect no luck i was told to clean left/right impact sensors put dilectic grease on bottom of sen. and use the k pin ground method to get light out just wont work any ideas
