Do you suggest removing, or leaving? Also, am I correct to guess that they didn't have resistor plugs back then that caused all the noise.

They're for suppressing radio noise (static "pops" in the speaker); they didn't have resistor plugs back then, but if they had, they'd still need the capacitors and the shielding all over the ignition system due to the fiberglass body construction. A steel body creates a grounded "cage" all around the engine, but fiberglass does nothing. I'd leave the capacitors in place - can't hurt anything; there are LOTS of them - all are shown in the U69 section of the assembly manual. :)
