Car Dolly

I have been shopping around for a set of car dollies for my Vette. I have found a web site that sells a set of aluminum dollies for $225 for a set with heavy duty casters. (www.car-dolly.com) They are 10" wide and 16" long. Has anybody else bought these or would recommend something else? Thanks!

I use wheel dollies on both of my projects. It sure is handy when you need to move your car (especially when the engine isn't in it). I pull my car into the center of the garage to work on it, then push it to one side so the wife can park her (gasp) Volkswagon in the garage. Unless you plan on always having a project underway, I wouldn't spend a fortune for them. I picked up a set from Harbor Freight for $80 (for two) or $140 (for four)

Try www.carskates.com - reasonably priced, nice hard plastic wheels on ball-bearing casters; easy to move, won't gouge your floor.

Thanks for the info! I knew there had to be more of a selection out there. I am ready to lift the body off of my '78 and will be needing to move the frame around the shop. I built a body dolly for the body and will be juggling everything around the shop for work space in the next few months. Again, Thanks!

I also have the harbor freight dollies.They a re the best deal around,sometimes they are on sale for $100 for a set of 4.I think they are a little harder to move than others.

I've got a set of the Harbor Freight dollies under both my Vette and my Jeep CJ7. The Vette rolls around the garage VERY easily, while you have to put your shoulder into moving the Jeep. Simply a matter of how much weight they are supporting. Still one of the best things I've bought for my garage. I bought mine on sale for $100 per set of 4.
