Hey guys, My car is surging when I hit about 30 mph! I re set the dwell re timed it , and if anything it made thing a little worse. where do I look next. very frustrated. Jim

Surging is normally fuel-related; lean mixture or fuel starvation - check the fuel filter(s) first, check hoses at tank and pump for kinks/deterioration.

Thanks John, I'll try your ideas next. Appreciate the info!

JohnZ is usually right, but I thought surging is more spark related... Maybe fouled out plugs, wrong gap, wrong plugs (platinum in a non-platinum car)... Wrong timing or dwell, maybe meter is off calibration...

I've been fine-tuning my engine... taking JohnZ's suggestion, I adjusted the fuel mixture to the point where I got the most vacuum. I was able to get 14-16" Hg by using a richer mix. I was running a bit too lean --- which was a surprise. The car is running much better (not quite 100% yet)... and even a bit cooler.
