Friday I ordered a complete carpet set along with the rear storage set. I'll be doing the install in a week or two and wanted to hear any advice on doing this. I'll be putting in the heat barrier as well and trying to seal up the interior as much as possible.

A couple things concern me. The carpet on the seat backs and the kick panels, what's a good way to remove the old stuff? How much of a pain is it to get off without plastic explosives? And is the 3M adhesive the best to stick the new on with? Anything I should know before I tear into this?

Scott - 2 questions. Where did you get your carpet. What are your plans for the carpet on the door panels ? Usually they are faded and won't match the new carpet (at least mine wouldn't match).

Dave,

Not sure where the carpet was ordered from but I think it's ACC carpet. A buddy of mine works in a paint shop and they get a 20% discount so I had him get it for me. Right now I'm leaving the door panels alone, can't afford new ones. If it really looks bad I'll dye it.

Best price on the net for carpet I found was $205 and that was either Willcox or The Last Detail. Dewitts makes the rear storage compartments and their price was $140 for the complete set. I paid a few bucks less :D

Scott,
I removed the carpet from my seat backs by peeling it back & carefully cutting through the lumps of glue with a sharp scapel blade. It takes a while to do! The carpet on my kick panels just fell off when I gave it a gentle tug.
Do you know anywhere that supplies the carpet (in Camel) for just the seat backs? My rear carpet set is fairly new, but for some reason the seat back carpet is the original (& looks it).

I used 3M adhesive and it worked well for me. When you remove the old carpet lay it on the floor exactly as it came out. I found this and easy way to match up the new pieces. I had trouble getting the storage door carpet off, I used a paint scraper and still had a big problem. Good Luck!
