Well I can't say anything on a 73, but I purchased a carpet kit for my 78 from Corvette Central. If you take your time removing your old carpet, so you know how to put it back it easy. The rear is the hardest to do. It took more time to get everything out of the way than it did to actually does to do the carpet. You know the seats, trim and stuff like that.
Just a note to check the floor before reinstalling. If there is any rust, treat it now. Even a hint of it. Also make sure the heat shield/sound tampener is good. Once you've got it all apart that's the time to fix anything that may need help. Oh Yes, be careful removing the storage door frame; When they are old they like to crack and break if flexed to much.

GOOD LUCK

I installed the carpet on my 73 two years ago its pretty easy job. The only problem I ran into was the one bolt and nut on the two seats. The nut is not welded to the outside floor board so when I got it loose the rust and dirt where on the threads and it was pretty hard to unscrew. So what I did wassome spray on the threads to loosen the rust and dirt. (I cant remember the rust spray). The other thing I did was to get some insulation from (Home Depot) and got a rool its silver on one side and black on the other. I glued it down with 3m spray glue, and cut it to fit the floor and transmission tunel. It cost me about 15$ a lot cheaper than the kit from Ecklers. It sure made a differance in heat at the feet. Just take your time and it should be pretty straight forward. If you have any questions e-mail me at Tx51dm@aol.com.

Good luck

Daniel

You might want to do what I did on my '69 to try to eliminate some heat. I put a layer of "Cool-It insulating Mat" :cool that I bought from Jegs (Pg. 8R in my latest catalog with the Buick LaSabre on the cover) under the carpet. I put this directly on the fiberglass floor without any sort of glue and the carpet directly over it. It was easy to do - it sorts of form fits when you push it down. Don't get me wrong, the car still gets hot :r but it is better than it was before
:w

thanks to all,i will give it a try!
thanks
