Hey folks, I remember a long time ago someone like Ecklers, Mid America etc offered an "off road pipe" that directly bolted in-place of the 1981 Catalytic Converter...it even had a bung on it for the air pipe tube.
But I can't find them anymore...are they still being offered?

No problem! It's what we do here!
Besides, gotta help a fellow "Keystone Stater"......
even if you're from the "wrong" end of the state.....:L

LOL...I see you're in West Central FL > right now I'd take some Fla temps.
Getting cold and raw here and my bones are hating winters :mad

Still in Massachusetts! Gettin colder here by the day.
I still work here, so we only get to Florida 2 or 3 times
a year. Not NEARLY enough! The Vette was purchased
in Florida, and as far as I know, when I brought it up
in April of this year, it was the first time it had left the
state. 2 days after I got it to Massachusetts, it presented
me with a petition DEMANDING to go back ;LOL! I guess
I'll hafta get her back down to her home before the snow flies.
She'll probably refuse to start if she's here when it snows! :L

"Massachusetts"...brrrrr, it's probably snowing up there by now!
Gotta get your Vette back down south to the warmth > I may be needing to relocate to some warmer climates myself (if ya know of any single wealthy women) :thumb

Nope, don't know of any! DARN........
Get down to York from time to time to see the Son,
Daughter In Law, and 2 Grandsons.

FWIW you might want to check with your DMV before you purchase the test pipe. It is against the law to sell these in several states which is why they are no longer listed with regular aftermarket providers. May not hurt to check with the eBay seller.

Thanks Mike, I'm waiting for a reply from an eBay seller.

I've read that some OE cats can be 'punched out' but I'm not seeing as it looks to be sheet metal inside?

Back when I was a part counter guy we had those pipes but had to pull them because of fed laws, that was 30 year ago.

Test Pipe arrived yesterday...but now I need the Y pipe at the rear. I installed new mufflers last Spring.

A muffler man could make one for you but, might not install it???

I went to a Meineke Shop last year and brought in my converter so he could make me a test pipe. He wouldn't do it because just the intent to change the converter was there and he could still be fined $10K.

The feds must scare the crap out of the muffler places for this guy to refuse the job!

Meineke is a national firm. If I was in the market for a test pipe I would go to a independent. Just saying!:upthumbs

As you live in the states i would say, go to some kind of a home depot store for some pipe and two exhaust flanges. Let you neighbour weld it together and your all set :)

Greetings Peter
