I installed an AMW catch can on my Z last weekend. After about 100 miles of "Spirited" driving, this is what I found in the can:

This is going back through your intake track!! These things work. I mounted mine on the battery partition because I don't have much room with my blower. They sell a bracket to mount it on the front of the head.

What does it do? (dummy me) and where can I buy one. Oil catch before valve cover PCV valve???? I have problems with to much oil going into the valve covers on my AV 5.3 engine.

Here's a shot of one installed on the front of the head. You can see the plumbing better in this shot:

It goes between the valley cover PCV outlet and the throttle body inlet. Here's a link to AMW's site: http://www.accmachtech.com/pcvcatchcans.htm

Hi Z06-Tom -

Nice sanitary install on your car - thanks for the pictures.

Do you think your supercharger precipitates more oil blowby, or is this something a stock N/A ls6 owner could expect to see?

Just wondering. I am anticipating that next year I will either put a S/C on my Z or H/C - still researching and deciding the best way to go.

best regards -

There's no doubt the blower is a big factor, though it's pretty well documented that all LSX motors are prone to oil ingestion through the PCV system. I'd look at a CC as a precaution in any event. As for my car, my rings are starting to go. I'm either gonna do just forged pistons or go full stroker and do a 383. It'll come down to what my financial planner (a.k.a. lovely wife) can fit in the budget.:)
