CB's

Wow, no CBer's, I thought there'd be a few out there.

thanks, anyway.
I carry a handheld Cobra CB. It merely plugs in to the power outlet in the center console and requires no permanent mounting. Good for traveling in groups, you may talk with the others and it is good to monitor any road hazards.

our local car group switched over to FRS radios a few years ago.

U will not always be notified of a trooper watching your travel route on a CB.

Some units are hi powered and can reach much further distance with hi volume and are annoying, with a blabber mouth using the mic.

only use mine on long trips - use a window mount antenna and still have range out to about three miles, of course depending on terrain

Hi prettybull -

I run a Midland 75-822 in my Z06.

I plug it into the accessory plug under the console. I run a CB Buddy license plate mount antenna bracket, with a Firestick No Ground Plane (NGP) antenna and coax. The coax runs up under the fascia between the license plate lights, and then runs into the rear compartment.

I notched out the flange that the weatherseal for the trunk locates on in an inconspicuous location, and then the cable was easily hidden by just pushing it under the plastic inner panels (I ran it up the passenger side).

The cable emerges behind the passenger seat, where I run it up under the console lid to plug into the "y" connector on the midland 12dv adapter unit.

I think this is the slickest CB setup - and I get 4 mile range with it each direction for pretty good coverage.

Here is a pic of the rear with the CB antenna mounted - MA and Ecklers both carry a similar unit for the antenna.

Sorry for the physical size of the next pic, but here you can see how tall the antenna is, since the aboce picture cuts it off...
