It may sound a little silly, but it seems that the centers on my rally wheels never seem to go on the whole way. They stand off a fraction of an inch. Given what they cost I would hate to loose one.

Also how easy is it to dent one with a rubber mallet. They seem pretty stout and go on rather hard.

Every rally-wheel car I've ever had did exactly the same thing, and I've never lost a center cap (wish I could say the same thing about my '67 bolt-on aluminum wheel "starburst" center caps - just lost one of those yesterday, never heard it come off - bummer).
:cry

I cut 3 slots in mine - between the humps that contact the wheel. The caps stay tight, they don't warp, and they dont scratch the paint off the wheel anymore.

Of course they are not 'correct', but neither are rally wheels on a 66.

The center caps are far more sturdy than the trim rings.
