Ceramic Compound Brake Pads

I have been given a new set of ceramic compound brake pads for my '96. Anyone have any experience with these? Better than stock? Worse? Better stopping distance?

I'm kind of curious, what brand are they? Although I don't have any personal experience with ceramic brakes, I am "up" on the technology and it's growing rapidly when it comes to automotive applications. I think we're going to start hearing it more and more like "carbon fiber". I believe that some of the new higher performance Porsches are coming with ceramic brakes as optional equipment and stopping power is supposed to be phenomenal.

I think that they are a NAPA house brand but not sure.
