My antenna is shot. Was like that when we bought her. One of the only things that I could find fault in. :)

Anyways, how tough is it to get at the antenna and the motor for it? How expensive are the reproduction parts? Is this repair in Chilton's? I have to order that book tomorrow.

Thanks! :)

I was thinking about installing a power antenna, so I scooted under the car and took a look up under the fender. Not too bad, by the looks of things. Replacing the antenna unit should be covered by Chilton's. Shooting from memory, I seem to recall something like $130 for a price for the power antenna, but I'm not sure how accurate that is. Eckler's lists them.

are you sure the motor is shot? alot of times its the band that connects to the motor....... check to see if the relay in the rear storage compartment us working too..... mine wasnt working and just got an aftermarket power ant. and it worked perfect....... even added a 15 degree angle plate to it to give it a "slated back" look :) made for a very nice "speed" presence......

Somebody had snipped the wires on mine. When I reconnected them I found out why. It runs constantly and has a terrible clicking sound. Must be something's stripped inside, so that it doesn't shut off. :(

I'm going to rip out my uply, broken power antenna and install a fixed-mast unit, which was used in earlier-model Vettes. Power antennas are nothing but trouble!

I guess I'm not sure that it's the motor, and I haven't gotten under her yet to really take a look. I'm not even really sure how to get to the antenna hardware. Any ideas? I would probably have to remove the spare tire bay, right?

nope under drivers side rear fender no problem toget to really. Gjust get down under the fender and you'll see

Okay, I'll try to get a peek at it right now. Thanks!! :)
