cheap quality seat covers

I had some wear on the driver side seat bolster refinished recently and after a short while the redying was starting to wear off. I bought some seat bolster protectors from Mid America Part #606-158. These things work great and if you have some wear on your seat bolsters (they all wear out) check it out!!

The Leather Sport seats on my 98 wore-out too. Started tearing at the seams and just plain wore down where my left thigh rubs getting in and out of the car. Got them both replaced by the dealership under warranty!

The leather seat covers on the EXTRA COST sport seats on my 1999 C5 coupe began to wear prematurely and were replaced under the new car warranty at 17,000 miles. Now, at 34,000 miles, they are showing signs of excessive wear again.

Cheap - cheap - cheap quality! (Especially for an extra cost item).

Yeah, the leather they use is terribly cheap. In fact, so cheap there was undue wear on the bolsters. I don't recall which year, but they changed the seat to leather TRIMMED (my '01 is and it states that on the window sticker) - the bolsters, now, I think, are vinyl to prevent wear.

They are cheap and made in Mexico!

I need to get those mine look as though they are starting to wear. It really is amazing that this option has this problem.

Unfortunately, GM does not always use the best quality interior materials in any of their cars. Custom upholstery is more expensive, but then you control exactly the quality of materials used. The leather and the carpet has always bugged me in every GM car. Not enough to make buy anything else though.
