check engine light on after driving for an hour at a time

I have a 93 vette with 68000 miles on it and the check engine light some times comes on after I've been driving at a steady speed on the interstate for 45mins to an hour. Once i turn it off and start it back up the light does not come back on. Also it doesn.t give any codes (my mechanic say's) Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

Welcome to the greatest forum out there.

I would say you have an EGR problem. At least that is what my 86 does sometimes. During normal in town driving no light, however get her out on the open road for a half hour and it comes on. Come to think of it, the light has been off for a while now. As far as the mechanic goes he is wrong. If there is an engine light there has to be a code. That is how it works for mine, I think you still have OBD I. I guess some LT-1 guys could help out more then me.
