1994 red convertible
There is a car dealer advertised in the wheels and deals here in Indiana who has a 1990 calloway convertible, 45k miles, yellow, tan interior for ...get this...$15,500.oo. I called a foul, but it has the distinct calloway front end, the gill panels, the rear end with the slots behind the rear wheel. I didnt think you could buy those body panels. It looks like it might have the high rise hood and the hood lines just dont look kosher. The rims look like either bbs or hre, they are the laced type. I dont know if its legal to post his number on here but if anyone wants to check it out I have his number out of the magazine. I may call myself tomorrow just to see what he has to say about it, but it seems impossible for a calloway to be sold that cheap, even if it has a rebuilt title or something along that line. I just thought I'd pass this along to the ones that know these cars better then anyone.

Sorry about the spelling, and I didnt notice the other thread for the this car, but thats the same one. Its advertised in this weeks trader again here. That car SHOULD be taken out of the market. From what I gather from here and on Callaway's site, everyone involved with these cars keeps pretty close track of all these cars and their parts. I was and still am surprised to see someone get by with a car like that. I didn't mean any disrespect by the spelling error.

No big deal on the spelling....... just don't misspell CORVETTE or Chevrolet will get ticked off.....

Good eye - Looks like the car might have been sold on e-bay last week - Did you look at it in the other thread that 90Callaway posted the link for?? There is an interesting pic of it sitting on jackstands :(

Thanks for the heads up - We live and breathe Callaways around here :D

I noticed the other thread after I had posted this one. I can't believe someone would do a corvette like that, let alone a Callaway. These cars all seem to have pedigree's, its a shame and a sin for someone to come up with a mutt like that one and try and pass it off. Did anyone get the vin numbers off of ebay to find out how it came about having the body panels? I read where someone saw it in a wreck, the jack stand picure was good too.
Unless the guy who bought it off ebay knew what was going on with the car, he's in for a big surprise when it gets delivered.

yes a real 1990 callaway would be a turbo car.
That is NOT a callaway car, so to speak.

that is just a regular 90 corvette with the aerobody on it. you can buy the aerobody by it's self.

I hope I didn't offend anyone by making comments on this particular car.

I don't think anybody was offended - I know I am not :m

I wonder what the story is with the car... Petsn8k said he saw the car off the road and also sent me those pics of the car up on the stands :eek

I think for a driver - it has a meanacing look and probably needs "finishing" to be a nice car - I think whoever gots it / got it , will enjoy it - but it is not a Callaway Twin turbo car.

The Aerobody was indeed avail. seperately - it fits all C4 vettes :cool

Are you thinking of buying one of the Callaway Corvettes out there?????

I have made no progress. I plan on getting a new hood too
(something with heat extractors like the sledgehammer had), then the whole car gets painted. but first I think I want to put a new engine in it so I dont mess up the paint or the body while doing the swap.

I picked up the kit because I plan on building my own twin turbo set up, and the body panels will help with the heat issues under the hood.

Something that is bothering me. the guy I got the aerobody from cut the rear bumper to accept center exhaust. But the exhaust he put on it is the power effects, so there is 4 oval cut outs in the center, bottom of the bumper.

I have a pic on my work computer that he mocked up of what he had done to it if your interested in what I am talking about.
I dont know how I feel about it. It kind of looks cool, yet sometimes I think I want to have it repaired, but I feel repairing it will have it's own set of issues as far as strength and cracking.

Callaways are beautiful cars, I would love to have one, it out of my reach right now though. I have to stick with the regular ones. Thats alright, I dont see how a person can lose either way. I can see why someone would want to put a callaway bosy on one, they are awsome. I have seen some pictures of the body kits from vancor and some of the ones from aci advertised in ecklers and mid america but nothing compares to the look of the callaway.
I've never rode in a callaway, how does the performance compare to the grandsport?

Bill, Id like to see the pics of that bumper.

94conv... a GS/LT4 car will probably hang with a Callaway TT for 1st and maybe part of 2nd gear, Callaways have big traction issues.... after that its all Callaway.

I will take that one step more and say: If the person driving the Callaway TT wants to beat a GS/LT4, they will beat them.

Back to the bumper, if I remember correctly, Callaway made them in fiberglass, not the standard corvette bumper material.... Assuming it is fiberglass, the repair should be pretty straightforward and easy... especially for someone who knows fiberglass well, like a boat repair shop.

Surf, the pics are in your email.

If anyone else would like to see them, post your email, or mail me at bmcdonald@px.com and I will send them to you. I do not have a way to post things here.
