checked injector ohms

low injector ohms means they are bad?

I have been having some rough running issues for some time. I finally found the time to check into it. I took ohm readings on the injectors and 6 of them were 16.1 to 16.4 ohms. number 2 was 9.3 and 8 was 7.1 I assume this means those two injectors are bad ? Before I run out and buy two new injectors I would like opinion on this. Also should I replace them all with the ohms being so close to specs I wonder if it is throwing away money. Another thing, do I need to get matching injectors , is mixing brands going to unbalance the injector system ?

You can always send them out and get them referbished. When I was having motor problems all my injectors were suposedly leaking and they went through them all and replaced everything.

If you replace them I don't see the need to do them all. I would imagine as long as you got the same lb injectors you would be fine. I think they are 24 lbs. right?

I believe your right on the size. I suppose at the least I should have them all checked while I have it appart. I noticed something about the way it runs. When it is cold, it runs smother than when it is warm. I am thinking the injectors are open longer when when cold so if I have two running lean it might help them along some. Which would make it more noticable when warm.

The stock injectors are 22 lb. Or thats what the ECM thinks anyway. I don't see why you couldn't replace just the two that are showing low resistance.


I think Edmond knows of a place that does injector cleaning/blueprinting. Very resonable price. I can't remember the name of it though.

I just had a thought... dangerous when I do that.... I have a GM 3800 sitting here .... couldn't I just take two good coils and change them out ? BTW I am so tight that I squeek when I walk. I tend to squeeze the life out of a dollar.

No problem. Last time I checked, it was about $12-15 to clean each injector. Check out the Cruzin Performance website. They have a step by step picture of how they clean the injectors. It's pretty cool.
