I am going to look at a 72 coup (t tops) soon. This one has an automatic, PS, PB, AC, and a 454. Car has not been on the road since 85. The guy starts it and moves it around on his property regularly he says. Uses about a gallon of gas per year. Originally white now it's red. Painted around 20 years ago but is supposed to still look good. Condition as stated over the phone: Car starts and drives. He suggested to replace the brakes due to age and lack of use, needs carpet due to a bleach spill on the passenger side floor, one factory exhaust manifold is cracked.
The car has 65000 miles. Has new exhaust on it. He is the 2nd owner. Owned it for the last 27years. Been kept inside in his barn with two other Corvettes. Interior is described as in very good condition other than the carpet. He says other than minor surface rust the frame is solid.
I would assume the car needs all new rubber everything. Tires, brake lines, fuel lines, belts and hoses. New calipers and a master cylinder rebuild along with a tune up.
Realistically in good shape what would a car like this with the 454 engine cost? What would be a fair price for it in it's current condition? Can I expect the 454 to bring a premium price over the base 350? What are the ratings on the 454? HP and TQ.
Thanks
