Chevrolet will race new vehicle for 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup series

Chevrolet announced Tuesday that in 2013 it will race a new vehicle in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series, a vehicle which will be a new nameplate for the brand.

GM is saying the new car will have a nameplate not currently used on any Chevy.
So, what will Chevrolet call it?

Biscayne
Bel Air
Chevelle
Chevette
Vega
Nova
Chevy II
Citation
Monza
Lumina
Berreta
Celebrity
Corsica
Cobalt
Monte Carlo

Add "Super Sport" to all the above.

How about "Heavy Chevy"?

Chevrolet has lots of names to choose from that are not being used right now.

I attended the Phoenix race and Ford had their new 13 Cup car, a Mustang! At first I thought it was a Nationwide car but the placard said 2013 Cup Car. So I just assumed the 13 Chev would be a Camaro? :ugh They do have a new 13 Caprice for law enforcement.

Go Vega!

I'm pretty sure they've said it will be the new Fusion.

I'm pretty sure they've said it will be the new Fusion.

The latst edition of Road & Track even shows a picture of the new 2013 Fusion Cup car with its "Jaguar E-Series-like" oval grill.

I and many many others think NASCAR lost a lot of its appeal when they decided to go with the CoT and its universal body templates. Today's Sprint Cup is nothing more than yesterday's IROC series where the drivers all drove the same Camaros or Firebirds. It's like watching paint dry.

Okay, we know what the Ford, Dodge and Toyota 2013 NASCAR cup car will look like. Anybody got any idea what the 2013 Chevy will look like?

Any one good with photoshop?

I stand corrected, this is the car that was at the Phoenix race. 2013-ford-fusion-nascar-sprint-cup-series-car-g.jpg

Trail of clues leading to Chevrolet SS nameplate

The blogosphere has been abuzz with speculation since last month, when GM confirmed that it will replace Chevy's current NASCAR entry, the Impala, with a new race car. GM said a production version will closely match the race car and will hit Chevy showrooms wearing a new nameplate.

Chevrolet SuperSport Sedan Coming in 2013

General Motors sees a growing need for rear-wheel-drive cars in its product portfolio, and such an influx requires either an unimaginably flexible platform or a series of rear-drive component sets. Since “unimaginably flexible” isn’t something GM does well, the company is in the midst of dropping, reworking, and creating rear-drive architectures.

Caprice?

DETROIT – Chevrolet today announced the return of a V-8 powered, rear-wheel-drive performance sedan to the U.S. lineup, the Chevrolet SS. The SS will also be Chevrolet’s next NASCAR Sprint Cup racecar and will debut in its race configuration at the 2013 Daytona 500.
