Since tracking down the history on my 63, it looks like it was originally purchased from a Chicago area dealership. Is there anyone that knows the names of any Chicago area dealerships that were around back in 1963? I gotta believe that there were just a few back then. Do dealerships keep records of sales that far back? I'd love to be able to nail it down. Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

Do a search, Google, Yahoo ''Chevrolet Dealers Chicago''
Call a couple and you may find one who has info back that far.
GMwould have a list if it is published. It's a digging job.

Nickey and Z Frank, I think, were two of the biggest. Nickey was into speed. He was to Chevy like Grand-Spalding was to Dodge. They would pull out perfectly good small blocks and replace them with honking big blocks. Hey, why not? They had the connections and it kept the technicians busy! I believe that Nickey (with the backwards "K") was somehow associated with Yenko. You would have to look that up.

I lived in the Chicago area from 66 to 70 and here are some dealerships around then. BTW, I drove my 63 Corvette all those years too. Only had the door lock punched out once, but when they saw the aircraft tie down chain around every steering wheel spoke, emergency brake, foot brake and clutch, they went on to the next car I guess.

I have bills for parts or notes about them from these dealerships.
Brigance Chevrolet
Tom Edwards Chevrolet in Elmhurst
Dick Fencl, Oak Park
Jack Douglass, Hinsdale
Clark Chevrolet, (I think! Downtown Chicago)
Nicky Chevrolet (good guy on FI Units worked there)

Thanks all....I really appreciate the replies. I've sent some emails off to a couple of the dealers....hopefully they can steer me in the right direction. It would really be cool if I could complete this circle. Keep em' coming.

A 56 I once owned was sold new at Dick Doane Chevrolet in Chicago. Doane was one of the folks who had the key to Chevy's back door, possibly earlier than Nickey.
