Patrick,

I don't disagree with you at all, you still need to be a responsible driver with any speed counter measurement device and pay attention to the road ahead

You know, these discussion about "electronic counter-measures" come up periodically, and I always take some flack for my position on this. Well, I'll put my flame suit on and say it again:

Setting aside whether these devices are legal or not in any given state or country, I'm of the opinion that buying and using them gives one a false sense of security. I think it makes one a better driver if you force yourself to pay attention to road clues that there may be some speed enforcement zones up ahead a bit.

Have lots of experience with them :)

Here is a video of a recent test we did with the Escort Laser ShifterPro and the Blinder Hp-905

SO today, I saw three laser "traps" and one "rolling radar" trap :W

The rolling radar should be fairly easy to pick up by traditional methods however, the laser guys were standing in the shadows, each of them, and walking out into traffic once the picked you off :eek:hnoes

Does anyone have experience with laser diffusers/shifters, etc.????

It seems that a good laser detector will simply serve as a buzzer you have been tagged. :bash

I have an Escort Redlne. Locally, they prefer to "hide" around curves and downhill grades or both. As a mountain is blocking their signal, it is quite productive for them.
As radar frequencies are light of sight, most detectors get caught. The Redline's overkill range has saved me more than once. I don't live in a city so range is my need and it takes a while to slow down.

You will not get caught with either the Redline, the V1 or quite a few others.

Escort Redline versus Valentine One: Comparison Test and Review.

The Redline isn’t the most intuitive detector you can find. It isn’t the easiest to use. It isn’t the slickest. It doesn’t have the most features. Instead, it is like the “Sarah Plain and Tall” girl that is an absolute hellcat in the bedroom. It does one thing better than any other detector: Range. The Redline isn’t for anyone that wants to bop around the city or get to work in record time. It is for the fugitive on the run from the law or the driver that wants to see if they can get to the other coast by dinnertime. It is for long-distance runners chasing the horizon and racing the sun.It comes with your standard X, K, and Ka-band radar detection. It also hits 904 Nm laser scanners decently, and has great skill at catching sub-second I/O radar bursts, but that isn’t why you buy it. You buy it because it picks them up at an incredible 15 miles away – assuming perfect conditions. While other detectors might reach 13 mile detection on a dead straightaway somewhere in the wastes of Kansas, this can often reach the same level of performance on regular highways. If you’re going to go balls to the wall across country, then spend the nearly $600 for this. If that isn’t on your agenda, this isn’t what you need.

It isn't $600, but the laser jammer is.

I don't care which direction the radar is in; I want to slow down.

A Corvette is a LEO magnet and anyone who doesn't know it is only kidding themselves. We were driving in a 55 doing 59 and two cars were passed us and the detector went off. As lasers are highly directional we were the target.
