I'm trying to locate a chrome air cleaner cover that will simply replace the original equipment one. Ecklers has one for $100, but that seems pretty steep. Anyone know where I could find one cheaper? It's 11-1/2" diameter....I haven't been able to locate one at any local shops. Was there any other vehicle that used the same style lid? Help!

Randy,

Check out eBay. There are numerous auctions for chrome air cleaners. I just won an auction for one for my '76. Auction price was $20. That's probably your best bet. Just be sure to check out the sellers feedback before you bid.

Believe it not, I have a used one sitting in my garage. It needs some polishing, but it's pretty good.

But here's the catch: It's going to be sold cheap at our "garage sale" at the Texas Corvette Association Car Show on April 12 in Boerne (just outside San Antonio).

You need to come to our show anyway -- it's going to be great. So come 'n get it!

Rats! I can't make the car show. I have a good excuse though, I'm riding my bicycle (also red) from Houston to Austin that weekend to raise money for MS. If you'd like to sell the cover early I'd definitely be interested. Ebay hasn't proven successful at this quest yet, and I'm tired of looking!:Steer

There is a chrome AC cover on Ebay, auction 2409644436 for Vette. Might ask seller for dimensions.

Mike

Thanks Mike, I'll email him and get the specs. Also, Thanks page 62 for keeping me in mind concerning the one you've got. I can't believe there's going to be a show so close and I can't make it. Are you involved in a club in San Antonio? I've been to a few events here in Austin with the Longhorn Corvette Club, but that's my only contacts in Texas (fairly new to Texas, and the car)!

We have a very active club down here in San Antonio, the Texas Corvette Association. Last year we met in Gruene with the Longhorn Club to have a show 'n shine.

Sorry you're going to miss our show, but there's always next year!

Hey, Page62, did you sell that chrome air cleaner cover? I'm still interested in it if you've got it (for my '75).
Thanks,
Randy Lindberg

Sorry, Randy. It -- and just about everything else we had -- sold. We raised almost a thousand dollars for St. Judes Ranch for Children!

A suggestion: Go to New Braunfels this weekend. There's a huge swap meet at the fairgrounds. Who knows what you'll find??? (And remember, the early bird gets the worm.)
