just wanted to confirm, the best way to get the inside engine compartment cleaned and ready for paint...I was going to spray down the whole inside with a soft spray of Green spray cleaner or super Citrus Cleaner, let it sit...then go after the entire area with the pressure washer....and elbow grease...scotch brite pads.....some sand paper...and then be ready for some paint...since I am not doing a frame off, does it make sense to sand blast the frame and then paint it with some rustoleum?

comments or other steps to take in this process? The motor is out.....by the way.....

Sounds like you have the plan to me!

Hello,

I agree, everything you listed and the order sounds good. I use a pressure washer and or a steam cleaner. I find that the steam cleaner removes the grease and road dirt residue really well.

As for the sand blasting. I would not recommend it, unless you are pulling everything off paint. Sand blasting, walnut blasting or any of the other medias are great but messy. The stuff gets in every hole nook and cranny. If you have someone who is really good and can do the job without filling your car, then do it. If the car is not sealed off and the person blasting does not take the time to not fill the car, you will be finding dust and or whatever media you use for months.

Have fun.

I used a degreaser, rinse, degreaser, rinse, wash & scrub with laundry detergent, and then power washed several times. Let dry throughly for several days. Forget the sand blasting. It will be inside your frame rails forever and will hold moisture & contribute to "rot out". The front end of the frame is usually in decent shape anyway.
