Yes, I have had very good luck with my ACC, but I have seen plenty of them with problems. If you have a car with manual climate control, consider yourself lucky and enjoy it.

I think this is doable, you need an in-car temp sensor, an a/c programmer, the c68 operating unit, some wiring harnesses, and some vacuum tubing. Might be kind of involved but you can probably pick up all this stuff on ebay or a corvette salvage yard. You'll need the service manual too, has all the wiring diagrams in it.

I have no doubt whatsoever that it is doable. My question is why would you want to go through such pain to replace a proven reliable manual control system with a problem ridden, difficult to service system? As far as I'm concerned this would be a downgrade of the car.

What he said. I've had to replace the control head twice, at about $130 each. I think I now have a bad ground in the connector because it often resets itself to "Auto" and 75 on it's own. I'm not inclined to go in there and deal with it until it won't work at all. Consider yourself ahead.
