I got a quartz repair kit for my '73 and it seems to be working really sweet...
the following is some of the things i learned...
First i found it an easy thing to repair...about an hour or so...after i got it out of the dash ....
the kit was purchased from an ordinary corvette catalog.....i have seen the cost from $59 to $79 plus shipping....i could have purchased it directly for $51 plus shipping...
the do-it yourself repair kit is ONLY for Borg clocks built between 1963 thru 1982...you must have a Borg clock as well or the kit is worthless....you can verify that you have a Borg clock by looking at the rear of the housing...it will say Borg or have a "B" on it.....
if you have any other clock , this kit can not be used....but dont worry...this place will do the repair for you.....in fact they repair ANY gauge in your dashboard ..as far back as 1936.... the company is in Illinois and they are very friendly and helpfull...free estimates over the phone for any repair of gauges.

I want to close by stating that i am in no way connected to , nor am i advertising for this company. this is just the things i learned as i went thru this process....i didnt know about the guildlines before i bought it...if i didnt have a borg clock i would be returning it today instead of typing this note.
I hope this helps you when the time comes to fix a gauge.
Good luck,
Chas :w

Chas,

Thanks for the information. I'm sure it will help someone thinking about repairing their clock. Good info and sharing it is what we are all about my friend ;)

Bud
Chas, LOOKING forward to meeting you at Auburn Cruise-Fest. :beer

I will be keeping this info handy when I'm ready for a clock repair. As you know the clocks are always the weak point on a vette. I often used to kid non owners that the clock was hooked up to the gas gauge . Consequently, it ran out of gas.

Tks,I usually buy most of the needed repair stuff I need before I start a dissembly.I didnt know there would be a problem with the original clock being a borg or not?(Ididnt know there was diferent manufactures?). good info. thanks again.
:w save the wave.
