Polo Green 1994 LT-1
Hey, I just joined the Corvette world when I got a Polo Green 1994 LT1 for Christmas! I love this forum, everyone. Lots of great information and tips. I hope to be an "answerer" one day instead of a "questioner".

The window to the gauges on the dashboard has some kind of cloudy coverage on it. It looks like someone may have used some kind of cleaner that has latched itself onto the plastic. Does anyone have any cleaning recommendations? Everything household I have tried doesn't seem to get rid of it.

Thanks!
Guy

WELCOME!!!

GuyzVette,

Got my LT4 around Christmas 3 years ago. I'm still answering and asking! Congrats on a wonderful car.

My lens is foggy and I'm sure it's from some kind of cleaner. I read somewhere about taking it out and polishing it and that may have been on this site (good chance to use the search feature that works really well).

I decided to order one from Corvette Central instead. They have free shipping through the 1st and I'm putting an order together. The part number is 394578 and it's about $45-50. Catalog has one price and the internet site has another. If you haven't done it, go to Corvette Central, Eckler's and Mid America Motorworks websites (should have links in the Portals or Sponsors buttons above) and request their free catalogs. Lots of dreaming in there and very handy. :lou

Enjoy! I'm an implant in TX from western KS (Scott City) and went to school at KSU. Family is still in KS south of Salina.

Hi & welcome to the CAC!

I had the same problem after taking my car to a detailer. I wound up taking it back to them and they pulled the gauge cover out and buffed it w/ some kind of rubbing compound and it now is crystal clear. I was bit leery of the guy tearin' into my ride BUT he said he's taken these apart before so I watched the whole process...took about an hour...maybe 8 screws or so and a little bendin' to get her out & back in. In order to get that stuff off (and believe me, it will come off...mine was real bad!) you gotta remove the cover...period! No need to replace it.

Later,
Jeff:w

3 M makes a product just for this , small black plastic bottle of plastic cleaning compound. If you need I can dig it out and get the part number.

Glenn - Please let us know. My van has it worse. I already ordered the lens for the Vette. Oh well.
