Is this oil you're seeing a new leak, or an old one? Sounds like Mr Pinion is preparing to take a dirt nap.

i had this same thing...not to scare you , but mine was the ring bolts had come loose....it still drove but now and then , wham...like a ran over a cinder block...bad part was the thing was a useless core too boot...so it was an additional $300...i hope yours is just joints and seals...mine was way expensive.
on the bright side , i bumped it to a 3:55 and love it!

I haven't had the car long. When i got it i had to add to rear end oil. It's problely been doing it a while.

when this made noise, it changed the way my car moved...a U - joint would'nt do that...these cars have alot of them to go bad too boot.change all of them and look at the seals.
