Ok, i'm mad and frustrated. :mad :mad :mad

I've had this problem on and off for over a year. All of a sudden the clutch fluid will just disappear and i have trouble shifting. Pedal gets loose and flimsy and goes nearly to the floor to shift. I check that resevoir thing, and its empty. Once refilled its ok again... for about a week or so.

Last year, in Dec, the dealership replaced the clutch(everything) at a cost of +$3,000... i had over 100K miles on my car, and probably well over 50-55K on that clutch.

I just took it to the dealer last week for the same problem and they "fixed" it. Now i have the same problem one week later. They replaced the slave cylinder hose assembly at a cost of over $300.

Can anyone help, what is the problem? Anyone have this problem. I dont see any fluid leaking in my car or underneath.

I am calling tomorrow to complain.

Hi John, I just saw this and you have a ZF6 in your vette, right? Well there is a site that may throw some light on your situation. zfdoc.com, it's Bill Boudreau's site and he is just about the last word in zf6's if you include zf themselves.

Just a suggestion as I'm not a mechanic and have no experience with hydraulic clutch systems except what I've just gone thru with my Z. Check out Bill's site I think you will be amazed at the depth of the knowledge that he has.

On a just guessing note, I'd say that if the dealer did the clutch, p/plate, T/O bearing and didn't go over the hydraulics the first time they may be chasing the problem. BB says that the clutch master and the line and the slave should be treated like one part and R & R'ed at the same time. Just go check out his site, you'll see what's up.

I had a similar problem on my '89. I replaced the master and slave cylinders and it solved the problem. I would have also replaced the tubing, but I couldn't locate one.
