I've been following a few threads on clutch choices trying to get educated a little in anticipation of doing a ZZ4 implant this winter to replace my L48. The car is a 75 w/muncie 4 speed, and from what I can see the flywheel will have to be upgraded for the motor and it'll obviously get a new clutch also. This car will never see the strip and is a weekend driver, but no doubt will have the 4 bbl opened a little from time to time:D ! The Centerforce clutch seems to get pretty good reviews but I've read something about upgrading the linkage also. ??

What size flywheel is the best match for this setup and is the Centerforce a good choice? Hayes????

Also, is there any concern about using the bell housing off my present engine?

Thanks! Bill

If you're not going to the strip why waste the money on the CF clutch. I am happy with my stock unit. Got a ZZ4 in mine. No bell housing issues, using the stock linkage. I just greased my linkage joints a bit and was amazed at how much it lowered the pedal pressure. I can post the p/n for the flywheel but its gonna take me about 12 hours to get to it. Someone else will probably beat me to it. Any place that sells the zz4 should be able to sell the correct F/W also.
good luck

stock linkage....stock bellhousing......ram powergrip.....350........w 10.32/1 comp 420 hp 445 lb torque....no problems here...

Hey thanks for the replies. I didn't know if a stock clutch would be OK or not and from what you guys are saying it should be. Kind of hard to tell which way to go from reading all the past threads, everyone has a different reason for their particular choice.

I thought there were a couple different diameter flywheels available, that's what's getting me puzzled. I guess I should stay with the same diameter flywheel then and use a standard size clutch?

Are you guys using your origional starter also or did you have to go to a high torque one?

.......76 is the ram powergrip any harder on the left leg?

Found the answer about the clutch size: I should have a 10.4" dia. clutch and a 12 3/4" dia flywheel 168 teeth.
The 11" dia clutch needs a 14" dia flywheel that will not fit in my bellhousing.
Thanks to John Z for that.

Fly Wheel info

Found my receipt for the F/W. I bought it in June of '99 from Scoggin Dickey in Lubbock, Tx. 800-456-0211. The p/n is 10105832 . paid $160.00 for it.
good luck

The 12-3/4" flywheel has 153 teeth, not 168 (168 is the 14" dia. flywheel). :)
