Coating the Inside of the Frame Rails

Has anyone tried coating the inside of their frame rails with aircraft stuff? This appears intriguing.

Owned an airplane once and the person doing the yearly service used somthing like this. Seemed to work good on the airplane, but the parts were all some sort of aluminum. Don't know if it works on steel.

Bob,

I bought a wand kit from Eastwood and some 3m rust prevention stuff from the local auto paint store.

The 3m stuff was a waxy subtance designed to constantly creep, move, and bond to the metal.

When I had the frame suspended by hooks in the ceiling, I put the want head in the frame rail openings and blasted it.

The chemical was a cream color and felt like very liquid wax.

This is after I had degreased the chassis, blasted with soap and water, then ospho...let it dry, then washed it with some basic mineral spirits, let it dry, then coated it from the inside with this stuff.

Is Ospho similiar to the Metal Ready that POR15 sells?

Chris, I'm looking to do something similiar to what you did. I've read about Eastwood's wand kit before. Bob

I have thought about using ACF-50 which is also an aircraft product. When I went to their site for the link below I notice they also have another product called Corrosion Block.

ACF-50 has (or had last time I was active) a very good reputation in the aircraft world.

Who knows what works....

The wand thing from eastwood is great.Its good for inside frames and structural bracing on hoods and trunk lids.
Bob ,as far as that coating ,its sprays on like a thick grease and kinda dries like a wax.It really doesnt stop rust so you would have to start out with good rustfree metal.

Thanks Paintdaddy. I have just been spraying the heck out of the inside of the rails with POR15's Metal Ready as I have been painting the outside of the rails.
