So I was getting a code 43 (knock sensor). I flushed the coolant and changed the sensor and about a week later, bam!, the code 43 pops back up. So now I know it isn't the knock sensor, but probably some kind of wiring issue. Anyone ever had this happen and have any advice on where to look? I mean the one cable that runs to the knock sensor is the only "problem area" I can think of...

Thanks!

Well...that is what I would check. Get out the VOM and check for a short in the wire.

My 1990 Chevrolet book lists the following for the Code 43:

* Disconnect knock sensor
* Check wire to ground for 4 to 6Vdc
* Check resistance of knock sensor itself for 3,330 to 4,500 ohms

If you don't get the voltage in the second step, check the wiring. If you don't get the ohm reading, then the sensor is bad.

If both are within specs, it recommends checking the "MEM-CAL" for the proper one and/or replacing it.
