:confused Today I was driving about 40 mph when my SES light lit up. I thought: not again code 34 (MAF burn-off relay circuit failure). After about 4 minutes of driving the SES light went off. When I got home, I read the code at the ALDL and read code 44 (Lean Exhaust Present).
This is the first time I get this code in the four years I have had the car. Fuel pump and filter are new, spark plugs are 9 months old and so are the wires. The car (87 Coupe, automatic, 3:07 gears) has a KN filter with cut lid, TB was removed & cleaned about 6 months ago, IAC and TPS adjusted, Hypertech Thermomaster chip and no cats. I am using 87 octane gas and there is no knocking or pinging during load.
Is it the oxigen sensor needs replacing? As far as I know it has never been changed. The car has 130K miles in it.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.
