Hi all,

I talked to C4/C5 Specialist about this at the bar Saturday night, and he said to post the codes, so here goes!

As you may know, Saturday was a rainy day in Carlisle.
I was parked on the hill in the futhermost corner from the entrance at about a 10 degree uphill angle on the grass.
At noon I revved the engine in a tribute to the late Chip Miller and then shut it down.
It started raining around 3:00, so I thought I would take a nap in the Vette till it slowed down a little. I turned on the key a few times to get some fresh air in the cabin over the course on an hour.

The next time I started the engine, the RPM's held at 2000 and the engine was missing quite badly and there was no throttle response. The DIC messages started flashing "Reduced Engine Power" and " Service Traction Control.
So I shut it off for about 20 Sec. and restarted it.
Everthing went back to normal, and stayed that way the rest of the trip back. Still is normal now.

I pulled the codes yesterday and found:

P1516H communication V/S actual TPS position error
C1278H excessive RR wheel speed variation
B2282H Batt #1 fault-left door
U1064H Comm loss w/ BCM
B2283H Batt #1 fault-right door
U1064H Comm loss w/ BCM

I'm assuming the first codes are the most recent, and got them all at once, since my PCM was reflashed last month for the steering lock recall.

I wonder if the engine revving, turning the key on without starting, the rain, and the uphill position might have confused the computer temporarily. Like I said it only happened that one time and hasn't done it again since in 3 days worth of driving.

I reset the codes and will see if I get anything again in the near future, only 2 months left to drive anyway.

Pete,
The "H" at the end of each code indicates a history code- no longer currently active. As for what they all point to when put together, C4C5Specialist is in a much better position to give some ideas than I am.

Is your Corvette working NOW, or are you still experiencing issues?

HI there,
P1516 is what most likely caused your condition.
This basically says that the throttle position sensor is not where it was supposed to be commanded by the throttle control computer.
This will cause the c1278, which is NOT a wheel speed sensor. This code is for traction control disabled. It is a byproduct of the P1516.
I would first suggest you check the photo below.
It is a common occurance for the wiring harness to chaf on the bracket for the fuel rail at the drivers side rear of the engine.
Check that for rubbing, and if it is contacting the bracket in anyway, move and insulate the harness.
Allthebest, and please keep us posted, c4c5

Hi Patrick,

Works great now and did so for the rest of Sat.,Sun.,and the trip from Carlisle to Rochester(5-1/2 hrs drive) on Monday.
I think it just got confused.

Sorry for the delay Paul, my internet connectrion dumped out as I was answering.
I checked the bracket and it was pretty tight to the harness, so I insulated it with some foam neoprene tape. Hope that's the last I see it.

Thanks for the help.

Update:

No problems since it happened and I insulated the wire harness. It's been over a year now without seeing a single error code! Thanks C4/C5 Specialist!
