Codes?

I have been using my Autoxray tester and found some trouble codes(not on the vette but the truck...piece os fhit). Where do I find out what the codes mean? Code 7 was what came up, but it wasn't in the book I got with the tester.

Codes MIGHT not be the same for all GM products
Might be a C4C5 question
What year truck...etc...etc

List them out, because a 7 is normally a transfer case fault code, and we can help.
