65-to-00

Guest
I stumbled on this car for sale on the lawn of a local garage, one that is run only part time so there is no one to ask particulars of.

Before I go chasing my tail and a dream could some of you give me a few comments just based on what was noted and my observations.

64' four speed convertible .. rag top is good

Paint is fair, shiny but a few flakes/chips and minor crazing (to be expected) here and there.

Note on window says "minor frame rot" left rear ...

Missing most badges and the hood inserts (no big deal)

Says "original motor", 327/300hp rebuilt ..... (I like that part :))

Red, but the interior is brown (bad combo probably not original color) but is in nice shape, not "cherry", just no rips or excessive wear.

Rally wheels and side pipes.

Note says car is a great dirver, runs well.

Price .... $32,000 ..... miles on the odo are 56,000 noted as unknown and probably 156,000.

Car may have factory air since it has "holes/vents" in the doors that I don't remember from my 65' ????

Now, I have a perfectly good 2000 with 37,000 miles that needs nothing but I hate all of the "options"

:ohnoes PS .... wife will have a fit ... but may understand

The frame rot is what is bugging me? All comments appreciated! :W

The c-2 frames rot out where the trailering arms hook into the frame. At 30+ $s for this car I personally think you will be in it to deep by the time you do the frame. Once you commit to pulling the body you will most likely start a domino effect and end up doing a complete restoration.:beer

Run, Forest, Run - ifn' you can't get it for $20,000 - frame rot can turn into a HUGE nightmare and $$$$$$$$$$$$

It's about $12,000 over-priced; keep looking - probably not an original part on it except the rusted-out frame. There's no such thing as "minor frame rot". :eyerole

Thank you for saving me from myself. :crazy

I tend to "fall in love" .... and do some real stupid things.

After the initial investment, there wouldn't have been much left in the budget for any frame work.

:) I don't feel "better" .... but cured ...

And yeah ... I did ride by for another look this afternoon.

I don't think there are any holes in the doors for A/C... the vents are in the center of the dash and under each end corner of the dash.

1964 Coupe

I have a 1964 coupe 4sale. Riverside Red, 4spd Muncie, positraction,327 300hp. This car has 49,000 original miles and has never been in rain or snow. Everything works and is original, clock,am/fm radio, cigarette lighter, etc. The engine is strong and looks new. The car is perfect. Has never been in an accident. I currently have chrome Crager wheels and larger tires on it for looks and ride. I have the original wheels. It also has a Holley 650 on it and a 1965 air cleaner. I have the original carb and dual trumpet air cleaner. The car also has a full cover for it. Have many trophies from car shows which also goes with the car. The interior is perfect and clean. Even the aluminum glove box door doesn't have a dent or scratch on it. Has C2 floor mats. The car is truly nice. The neatest thing about the car is the serial number. Last 5 are 122225. It was the LAST coupe that came of the line in 1964. I am selling it for 42,500. The car is worth every dollar and more. Hope to get some pics posted. The car is located in Columbus, Ohio. :beer
