I am a new C-5 owner. When I select the Competitive Driving mode, what is that actually doing for the car?

Short answer - Competitive Driving mode leaves Active Handling on and turns Traction Control off.
I.e.: you do burn outs and smoke the tires out of a turn and the Vette will still try to keep you from spinning out.

If you turn everything off, watch out.

I think in competitive driving mode the active handling relaxes a little as well. It seems to me that in comp. mode you can slide the car around a little more. However beware that if you do something boneheaded enough even in competitive driving mode the car can and often times will still spin.
