suggestions on where to get red line tires...not sure if I am going to go that route or not...but would like to evaluate for the '64....they would need to be radials....thoughts? sources?

thanks, Herb

I have a set of Diamond Back red line radials on my coupe in 225/70/15. Get a lot of positive comments. I wouldn't drive on bias ply tires and if you use 70 series they have the same look from the side as the old bias ply even if they are wider.

This is their site - www.widewhitewalltires.com

First gear, I got my set from Coker tire. They look really nice but had a problem balancing 1 out of 4.Worked out ok but coker said if I have a problem soon, they would take car of it.Sometimes wonder if I should have just gotten a set of TA's.Good luck, they'll look great.. Jim

I got my redlines from Diamondback as well. I was told they use made in USA tires whereas Coker uses Mexican made tires. I am very happy with the quality and service from Diamondback.

Herb,
First, my compliments on your stable of beautiful vettes.

I spoke with the gentleman from Diamondback Tires about a year ago.
He told me that he can put a redline on any blackwall tire you pick.

I understand his work is excellent.

I had coker redlines on my 67. The ride was not good.
I took them off and gave them away.
Two were in good shape..two were so-so.

Food for thought:
I did a search on The Tire Rack and bought one of the top rated touring tires (#2 out of 30+ tires) in the size I was looking for.
They happened to be Kumho whitewalls. The number 1 tire did not have the thin whitewall I wanted.

The Kumhos radials gave me an excellent ride. I drive my car as much as I can and really appreciate the difference.

Good luck with your decision.

Best regards,
Pedro:w

Diamondback (Dayton Daytona SR 215-65R 15 redlines are on my 57; and have been for over 15000 miles including trips from FL to CA and FL to MI and back including some jaunts well over the speed limit (and well over the speed rating as well). :lou

No problems at all! I would highly recommend them.:beer

Find Some Place with a Hunter 9700 Road Force Balencer!! Best Money I ever spent!! I do it to every Vehicle (First Thing!) that I buy for Resale and my personel Vette's, and Classic car's!! Beat's the Hell out of Chasing Viberation's around the Vehicle!! :upthumbs gmjunkie!!

I just bought a set of 215-70-15 diamondbacks for my roadster. They are so much better then the less then satisfactory cokers.

thanks everyone....I decided to stay with the blackwalls, turned my white walls around...they were 205/75-15 on my stock wheels.......decided I need to save the money because....I have a coolant leak...grrrrrrrr.....and it is not in a very good place.....check out my other posting....there are other pictures there....but here are the wheels and the tires....my gal said that the whitewalls had to go...so we went with the blackwalls....the tire store told me to run the wheels for about 50 miles and double check the tightness of the nuts holding the wheels on....so I decided to hold off putting the rest of the "knock-off" pieces on until I was sure that they weren't going to loosen on me.....I do think the red line tires would look great!!!
