Console button

I ordered a new spring for my console button on my 96 Ce, I took a quick look at it today and assume I need to take out all screws and remove the top pad to insert the spring, but seeing as the weather is pretty cold I did not spend much time on it. Is that the way the spring goes in? Thanks

Yes, the outer portion of the lid must be removed, it's the only way to take out the old spring and put in the new one.

If it's like my 88. three screws takes off the lid. Take in inside to make the repair. There is also an quick disconnect plug for the light in the lid. THe plastic cover just pops off.
