I have a badly contaminated fuel tank in my 81 coupe . It had been sitting a long while when I bought it. My question is; Is there a REAL GOOD tank cleaner that will work and where can I find it or should I go ahead and replace the tank, lines ,etc.?;help
Ed

It's very easy to drop the tank, disconnet the fuel lines, remove the exhaust and the spare tire carrier, unbolt the straps and the support bar and it'll drop out. Remove the flange 9fuel metering assembly) and empty it. Rinse it out to clean it.

When done, rinse out the fuel lines w/ some alcohol and replace the fuel filter.

thanks winnie for your input.. Are you suggesting that I also use alcohol to clean the tank? Ed

The tank has a bladder inside, just rinse it w/ water and let it dry. No need for alcohol there, water will come into it anyways. You just don't want water in the fuel lines.
