convetable rear window care

What are you guys using or doing for your rear window. My al knock top is going on a year old now and dony know what I am supposed to do to clean or protec therear window I definatley do not want another yellow window

Thanks Guys

I had a Miata for more than 7 years and I simply used clear water to clean the window and very simple car polish on a cotton towel.

That kept the window clean and clear and the top on that car is now about 12 years old with the best part of it being the window...

Thanks guys Too bad my wife didnt read this she was getting the 66 ready for a show on sunday and when I looked over she was using windex and paper towels. No scratches yet But I will folow your recomendations

Be very cautious using Windex (or similar glass cleaning products) on clear plastic/plexiglass ... It has a tendency to "fog" it over time.

The one thing I did know was not to use windex or paper towels

Once it's yellowed & fogged, there's no way to fix it, is there?

The windows on the roof of my dad's 68 MGB have yellowed and fogged over the years. I heard of a product by Eastwood which helps but Dad figured it was easier to take the roof in and have the windows replaced.

Even a yellowed an fogged window can be cleared a bit (surely not to optimum condition) using normal unspectacular car wax and a cotton towel. Just polish the window several times.

All my back windows stayed clear as glass till the tops gave out. I use wax for clear plastics (motocycle helmet faceplates, etcetra) when I wax the car. I only ever wash the car with clear water unless I intend to wax it (my paint is 15 years old now). I use old cotton towels to dry the car, and start with the back window to prevent scratches from dirt particles. I always lay a clean cotton towel on the back window when folding it (putting it down).

If you have scratches, any plastic scratch remover (looks like very soft rubbing compound) will remove it, but try to support the window from the other side - a towel on a piece of wood will do it.

PS The scratch remover will also remove the dreaded yellow.

Great comments about cleaning. Here's another idea. Before the top goes all the way down I put a towel in between the folds of the window so it doesn't get scratched. It requires something long like an old bath towel and it helps if you have an assistant stretch it across.
