Help! Coolant sensor

Engine coolant gauge quit working. How do I test the gauge and the sensor?

The coolant sensor is similar to the fuel level sensor...has about a 10 to 90 ohm range. Use an ohm meter to check the resistance at cold and then with the coolant warm. One meter probe on the coolant sensor terminal, the other probe on the engine block.

To test the gauge put a resistor between 10 and 90 ohms into the coolant sensor terminal and touch the other end of the resistor to the engine block. The igntion swith will need to be in the ON positon.
