Since I have only driven my "new" 64 SB about 10 miles since I purchased it and proceeded to tear it down, I was wondering if living in Colorado I should worry about the car running too hot . . I noticed that GM had added some rubber radiator seals for the BB motors - should I add these? Is the fit of the shroud the critical seal or is it the seal between the radiator and bracket? Does anyone know of a hear resistant rubber that could be used for this?

I am not familar with your weather and am actually imbarresed to say that I thought you guys had COLD weather.

Anyways a properley set up midyear really dosent have an over heating problem.

I had one with my 427/425 car and it ended up being a glogged radiator.I had flow in it and it looked perfect but when I finally hit it with a infared thermometer I had found only a small portion of the radiator was actually flowing coolant .In effect I was only using about a 1/4 of its cooling capacity.I replaced the radiator and have never had a problem since.

It also seems the only time I am out on the roads is when its a hot summer day enjoying the top being off

I bought my '65 in Ft. Collins, Colorado several years ago, spent the next year there going to CSU. Never had a problem with it overheating, even with an aftermarket copper replacement radiator. Made regular trips to Rocky Mt National Park on the weekends, never a problem. It's also a factory A/C car, but to the best of my recollection, didn't need the A/C much in Colorado. Used it a lot on my return to Mississippi, though. That's why I shopped around for an A/C car.
