correct console shift plate

I thought I had the orignal 76 console shift plate but now am unsure. The car has hookups for A/c so I assumed the shift plate would accept the ac faceplate and controls. However when I try to install the a/c controls into the rectangular outlet on the shift plate it doesnt sit correctly AND the the shift slider for the shifter hits the a/c when I try to shift the tranny...any idea?

Thats a console for an a/c car. Its tricky to get everything in place when installing it.

WHere does the a/c heater faceplate attach? I see two holes for screws in the a/c faceplate but nothing in the console housing to attach it to nor anything in the console plate to attach it to.

AC controls do not attach to the console plate. They actually mount to a metal bracket under the trim plate which sits on the console. Trim plate then installs over the AC controls.

The assembly instruction manual (AIM) has a diagram of the stock installation.

I kind of figured that but was not sure and could not find a pic of it. To your knowledge is the bracket sold anywhere?
