The C6 is coming. We speculate about what is really under the heavily cammoed beta / pilot cars and wait for more spy shots and more information - anything C6 we can discuss. I started to think about all of the Vette concepts that have graced the pages of car mags during my lifetime. I couldn't find a single site that had all of them pictured, but this one has quite a few:
Supper Cars Past & Present (under "C" of course).

What are your favorites (even if not seen at the refferenced site) and how do you think the corvette lineage would have changed if your choice had been produced? ...which of their features, if any, do you think will make it into production - soon or generations from now?

XP882. This was Zora's dream car that he really wanted to be produced. Mid-engine Vettes would have been really cool to see. I do like the fact that the rear-tranny cars have more of a mid-engine look and feel than the '96 and olders. My next car will be a C4, so I cannot take to much away from a front engine RWD.

Excellent site.

This Corvette Concept is currently at the National Corvette Museum.

What is that? Is it a C5 done up somehow? Is it some sort of C6 look, or is it older than that?

Here is some information about the Black Concept Vette.

**Note the last sentence in the third paragraph about the future Corvettes having fixed headlights.

One more....circa, 1990.

Red Corvette Concept. (Explored ideas for the C5)

Information about the Red Corvette Concept.

I have got to get out to that museum. I definitely like the black concept better than the red one.

Well the site looked interesting enough to bad I couldn't take a closer look because of the FORIEGN software being installed on my computer due to insane pop-ups.

Normally Id freak out but it seems like Im the only one....So beware of that link.

Big Red,

I should have warned everyone about the pop ups. Sorry. It's the single site that I could find that had the most concepts. I just kept killing the popups and had no problems.

My favorites are the duo; the CERV III and the Corvette Indy from which it evoloved. All wheel drive, mid engine. Also in keeping with Zora's desires - he's seen in one of the pictures of the Indy.

But, I wonder if it could have been produced economically enough to have sold sufficient units to not have killed the vette in the 90s. It was close as it was.

I think I saw an article in Vette or a similar dedicated magazine that it exists and is privately owned - maybe Mike Yeager (Mid America). Chevy had a very similar silver mid engined rotory car touring last year. IT was further developed than the 882. I saw (and sat in it) at Laguna Seca. Body looked ready for production. Has a small block in it now, with the wankel sitting on display - surprise, huh. They probably got tired of cleaning up the oil drops.
