Two good articles to read!

2. GTLM Corvettes Suffer Laguna Seca Disappointment

IMSA already plays favorites in the Prototype division for the Daytona Prototypes and the Corvette DP seems to have the advantage there.
IMSA can't afford to let the Corvette GTLM cars win too much as it would not look good - or they think it would not look good.

"Balance of Performance" activities are supposed to "balance" the cars in each class, not provide advantages to select teams. Guess IMSA doesn't have a clue how to do that properly though.

Too bad Corvette Racing is stuck in this situation and has to live with the whims of IMSA.

That is probably why IMSA changed BoP to AoP, Adjustment of performance, so they can adjust the outcome of the race!

Oliver Gavin:There was a noticeable deficiency in the performance of the Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs relative to the BMW, Porsche and Ferrari contingent

and
With our competition seemingly having a performance advantage over us, it felt like we were driving with one arm tied behind our backs.
